EMPOWERMENT

EMPOWERMENT

The word ‘Empowerment’ can be put to multidisciplinary use.

However in the management spheres, it refer to the act of giving subordinates greater discretion and resources.

It involves distributing control in order to better serve both the customers and the employing organizations.

In other words, it is the diffusion, redistribution of power and decisions and transferring responsibilities usually to employees, where such authority was hitherto the management prerogative.

The key benefit of empowerment is based on the fact that it reduces the turnaround time in the decision making process.

However, it is important to train and ensure that the individual employees have the skill sets to discharge their allotted responsibilities and the company structure set up the right incentives for employees and rewards for taking responsibilities.
