KOLA

KOLA

KOLA nut is a caffeine containing fruit, which is widely used as a stimulant in most parts of West Africa.

There are two species of kola, cola acuminata (Abata) and Cola nitida (Gbanja) both of which are natives of the forest of West Africa.

In many part of West Africa, kola is an important substance of the traditional religions as it is used to offer prayers.

The bulk of the Kola trade is within West Africa where largely people living in the Savannah and desert areas consume it. However, a little amount is exported to Europe and America.
