WEATHERING involves the disintegration and decay of rocks. The magnitude and speed of disintegration depends on the nature of the climatic elements involved (i.e. rain, sun, and temperature) on the one hand and the composition and character of the rock i.e its hardness, texture, fault lines, bedding plane and permeability ,on the other hand.

FORMS OF WEATHERING
WEATHERING takes place in two forms namely, physical weathering which is the physical disintegration of rocks without chemical change. Secondly, chemical weathering which is the chemical decomposition of the mineral constituency in the rock ultimately causing a collapse of the rock itself and that might result to a loss. The forms are basically the reasons for the breakdown.
